It Was a Looooong Weekend...

in the very best way. Chris's company takes off Friday and Monday for Memorial Day weekend, and Chris took Thursday as a vacation day, so we were able to spend 5 days together...a true blessing after all the travel he's been doing for work the last several months.

Chris and I had some wonderful couple time while Red was in school on Thursday and while Miss Jewel watched her on Friday night...but there are no pictures of our dates. There are plenty of pictures of how we spent the rest of the weekend: playing with Delilah!!!!

On Saturday morning we drove up to Sweet Berry Farms in Marble Falls and went blackberry picking. We tried to go early and beat the heat, but it was still sweltering, so our pale daughter only lasted about an hour or so. But she managed to have a pretty great hour!

My first homemade blackberry cobbler...it was delicious and gone in less than 48 hours. :)

That afternoon we stopped by the Triumph store. Delilah sat on almost every single cycle in the store. She decared that this one was hers. On Sunday we invited our friends, the Bighams, to join us at our community pool party/BarBQ cookoff. There was a ton of food, water slides, and craft booths set up. Not to mention the usual pool and park that are always a Delilah favorite. Delilah and Makinley had so much fun chasing each other from the baby pool to the big pool. Our little girl has no fear of the water...she was jumping off the side into Daddy's arms, and holding her breath underwater with the best of 'em! BTW, somebody at one point asked if Makinley and Delilah were sisters. Other than the fact that they're both absolutely precious, they look nothing alike. One is short, red-haired, blue-eyed, and pale as can be...the other is tall, with brown hair, brown eyes, and tan skin. Laura and I thought it was a pretty funny question and Chris wanted to ask the lady if she had also seen our Chinese kid running around. :)
Then on Monday afternoon, Mommy had to work for a few hours (tutoring a couple kids who had finals on Tuesday), so Daddy & Delilah had the afternoon to themselves. They swam hard at Barton Springs, enjoyed a sno-cone, and met up with our friend Matt at Opal Divine's to share a beer (well, Delilah had to be content with goldfish).

Told you it was a looooong weekend in the best way possible. It feels a little cheesy and forced to now throw out the obligatory "and thank you to our troops for serving our country and especially for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice", but it feels even worse to not mention at all what this weekend is truly about. So to our men and women at arms, I truly thank you.
