And Her Room is Ready!

Rachael finally let me take pictures of our baby girl's room. At long last the room is done and ready for Delilah. No more painting, sanding, assembling, sewing, hanging, unwrapping, installing, organizing, or anything else required. Who knew there was so much to do?

Again thanks to everyone who provided all the great things for her room over the last few months. You all have been too kind, and our little girl is completely spoiled by all of your love and kindness. She is truly lucky to have so many friends and family already taking care of her.

So without further ado . . .

The crib with all the bedding that Rachael picked out. She also made the blanket that is hanging on the crib and put all the flowers on Delilah's name on the wall.

Our rocking chair, changing table, and bookcase. Rachael also made the pillow on the chair to match the blanket she made. The baskets are loaded with diapers and wipes, so we are locked and loaded!


Rachael also made the blinds and the drapes. She's becoming awfully handy with the sewing machine, eh?

Looking back at the door from the window. Lots of books, stuffed animals and toys to play with when she gets here. Also some picture frames on the wall to fill with photos of you know who once she gets here.

Her baby book, to fill with all the memories to come once she gets here. Thanks again to everyone who helped fill up this room for little baby Lila. She is one lucky baby.

Most Productive Weekend Ever

Chris and I woke up on Friday at the start of a long weekend and as we walked downstairs, we started talking about how we were kind of disappointed in ourselves that we haven't done more around our house since we moved in. Then we realized that out of the 18 weekends we've lived in our new house, we have either been out of town or hosted guests for 16 of those weekends!!! We've loved every minute of it, but now instead of wondering why we haven't decorated more, I'm wondering when we've found time to unpack our clothes!!

So that set off a marathon weekend of making our house a home, with a special emphasis on our yard and the nursery. In three days we mowed and fertilized the front and back yards, pulled up all the weeds, dug out the two front planter boxes that were filled with dying plants, replanted said boxes with several bags of soil and 3 flats of flowers, laid down mulch over everything, primed and painted two dressers, installed new hardware on the dressers, sewed and hung curtains, sewed a throw pillow and baby blanket, painted and decorated letters to hang in Lila's room (and hung them), primed and painted a few corner shelves and installed them, washed all of her clothes and blankets, hung several framed pieces in her room, and set up all her books/stuffed animals/lamps/etc. around her room. I think we fell asleep around 9pm on Sunday...thoroughly exhausted, but very happy. I think it's a great way to spend Easter...celebrating God's bounty in nature and the miracle that he gave us that's growing inside me right now.

So here are a few pics. No real pictures of the nursery yet b/c of course I'm going to give that it's own entry!!! :) I will show the dressers we refinished for the nursery, though.

Dallas Shower

Yippee! Another shower! Our fourth and final shower was this past Saturday at my best friend Jenny's house. My beautiful hostesses were my 3 college roommates Jenny, Jessica, and Lisa and my sister-in-law, Amy. Everything was perfect and I had a blast catching up with the girls. Thank you!!!

And although I don't have a picture, I have to mention that before the shower, I went bridal dress shopping with my friend Kristen, who is getting married in November. She looked gorgeous in all the dresses and I loved getting to hang out with her for the morning! I have to say it was also nice to focus on something non-baby related for awhile. :)

And where was Chris during all of this? Learning how to be a dad from two new experts! Jenny and Jessica both had baby girls in the last 7 months, so while we were at the shower their sweet husbands, Chad and Matthew, were on baby patrol and Chris hung out with them at Matthew's house. They ordered pizza, drank a beer or two, watched college basketball, and played with two baby girls. Adorable!

Fun Houston Weekend!

This past weekend was a whirlwind of showers, family visits, and friend reunions! We drove to my parents house in Houston on Friday night and then headed up to The Woodlands on Saturday morning for a beautiful shower thrown by one of my great friends, Emily Hollier Rissmiller, and her fantastic mom, Miss Susan. The shower was perfect and I had a fantastic time...thank you again, Susan and Emily, for creating such a special event.
Saturday night was spent with Chris's mom and sister who had flown in for the weekend...so sweet of them!! We all went out to dinner with the Milburns who are long-time friends of the Huntley family...I think I can speak for all of us when I say we ate waaay too much food at Pappadeaux!!!!!!
Sunday morning my parents hosted a brunch for Chris's family and friends and my dad made his famous Eggs Benedict...perfect job as usual, Dad.
Then, Sunday afternoon we headed downtown so that I could go to another shower while Chris hung out with one of his oldest friends in the world, Ryan Slie. The shower was thrown by my friends at the S Factor studio in Houston...the company I used to work for. I had a wonderful time and the homemade cupcakes were awesome, BB!!
After that, we headed back up to The Woodlands to see my brother, Bryan, and the new home that he and his family just moved into. The house was gorgeous and I'm so excited that we are all back in Texas again. The kids stayed home while Chris, Bryan, my sister-in-law and I went out to dinner. We had a great time but our waiter was crazy! He overheard us mention the name "Obama" and promptly pulled out a chair and began to tell us why the possibility of Obama being elected means that the end is near and we should beware the apocolypse. Ummm...can you just bring me my iced-tea?
So...a very full weekend and a very fun one. I felt extremely special and loved and I know Delilah did, too. And I know this is a long blog, so if you read through everything, you're awesome. And now for lots of pics!
