Mommy/Daughter Baptism

Remember when I said this past Sunday was a very special day? I wasn't exaggerating. Delilah and I both got baptized!

Despite growing up going to Sunday school and church, I was just never baptized as a little girl for some reason. And we hadn't baptized Delilah yet b/c we wanted to do it at a church that we really loved. Well, about 8 months ago we fell in love with a Presbyterian church here in Austin and we became members at the end of last year. We knew Chris's mom would be in town last weekend, so it seemed like the right time to have the baptism.
It was a lovely service and the day was even more special than I thought it would be. One of the praise and worship songs was actually a song that Chris & I had everone sing at our wedding...wasn't that a lovely coincidence for God to arrange?
Mimi, PopPop, Aunt Kim, Uncle Ted, Grammy Di, Taylor, Lauren, Uncle Cannon, Aunt Amy, and Greyson all made it up for the big day, making it even more special.

When we first walked up there and turned to face the congregation, Delilah saw all the cameras and immediately said, "CHEESE!" You know, in that loud voice exclusive to toddlers during solemn moments in church. :)

Delilah started getting fidgety, so here I am singing "Twinkle, Twinkle" under my breath. She started singing quietly, too, which was really cute.

And here I am getting baptized with my sweet angel looking up at me. When we walked down to the baptismal font, Delilah said very loudly, "Water!", which made our pastor and the congregation laugh for probably the 8th time during the ceremony. My little ham.

There are no pictures of Delilah getting baptized b/c Ted switched to the video camera to record it. I will post that up shortly!

After the service, we went back to our house to continue the celebration over a big brunch. Then everyone headed home and the 3 of us promptly fell asleep. :) Thank you, God, for sharing your love with us and for providing us with such a wonderful way to mark our commitment to you.

Chris & Red's Weekend

Today was actually a VERY special day, but I will be posting about it later. Right now I need to play catch up and show you the pics from the daddy/daughter weekend that happened while I was in NYC.

Chris's sister (Kim) and her family just moved to Dallas from Wichita and we are so EXCITED to be in the same state!! To celebrate, Chris and Delilah drove up to Dallas after they dropped me off at the airport last Saturday. I should probably have Chris write this because I don't know the details of all the shenanigans they got into, but right now C & D are both in the middle of very heavy naps. So I just downloaded the photos and will do my best to recount the narrative I heard. :)
Sadly, there are no photos of what was probably the highlight of the trip: a hockey game! The whole gang went: Delilah, Chris, Kim, Ted, their two girls (Taylor and Lauren), and Chris's mom. The game lasted until 10pm which is about 3 hours past Red's bedtime...apparently she was awesome and made friends with the whole crowd. I guess it's hard to get cranky when you're having that much fun!!

They had lots of fun during a playground outing but the sun & shadows made the pictures look all weird. Here's a sweet pic of darling Lauren.

And here are the 3 girls having some bathtime fun. Such sweeties!!! I would have been jealous of all the fun Chris had with everyone, except they all came to visit us in Austin this weekend! (Told you it was a special day...stay tuned)

New York Summer!

Over the long weekend, I traveled to NYC to visit one of my very best friends, Summer, while Chris & Delilah went to Dallas to visit his mom, his sister, her family, etc. This post is about my trip, and the next one will be about his!! :)
Sum and I went to a theatre conservatory together, became friends immediately, roomed together, bridesmaided it up in each other's weddings...you get the point...we're close. :) But we haven't hung out since I was pregnant, so I decided a visit was long overdue. Chris won the camera battle, so these pics are from Summer. She made the collages and added the cool effects...enjoy!

We saw a matinee of The Understudy featuring Mark Paul Gosselaar. I had a crush on him in Saved by the Bell (Zack Attack, anyone?) and let's just say time is definitely treating him well. Yum!! The play was fantastic and worth the horrible weather. (See us fighting the wind with our umbrellas?)

Summer is currently in love with mustaches, so here we are sporting some.

There, I Said It

I want another baby. And it's not happening right now. And it sucks.
I've been telling myself over and over that we really haven't been trying all that long, but I woke up this week and realized it's been 15 months. Yes, you read that right. Without telling a soul, Chris & I decided that we would start trying for baby #2 when Delilah was at the tender age of 6 months. Yes, Chris travels A TON, and I know that has impacted things greatly. But 15 months is starting to feel like a very long time.
I know God's timing is perfect. And I certainly know how blessed we already are. To have Delilah and want another child is definitely crossing over into the greedy camp. But the heart wants what it wants.
I couldn't decide whether I wanted to talk about this on our blog or not, b/c this is mostly a place for pictures and fun stories. And the reason for that is b/c this blog will be printed out each year and turned into our family photo albums, so I only wanted to put down things that I wanted to remember forever.
But I finally decided that it was time to put this down into the history books. Because I want our next baby to know how much he or she was desired. And I want Delilah to know that it was because she is magic personified that we wanted another one so quickly.

There, I said it.

But if this post disappears in a few days, then I guess I changed my mind about wanting to say it. :)

Out of Town Visitors!

We bought a new computer for Christmas, so I've been a bit remiss in blogging while I got everything set up. So here's a long overdue post about some visitors we had over the holiday break!!

First our lovely friend, Annie, came in from Los Angeles. She has family in Corpus Christi, but was sweet enough to make the 3.5 hour drive to see us and meet Delilah. We hung out during the day and then went out for a Mexican dinner. We had so much fun catching up, and I already miss her!!

Then, after New Year's, our dear, dear friends, The Sullivans came to visit. You may remember Allison from her baby shower. Because they live in Minnesota, this was my first time meeting their 9 month old son, Sylas, and he was a delight!! Allison and Seth are completely at home with parenthood and it was great to watch them with their darling son. We spent the afternoon at a bounce house with the 2 little ones (and we broke the law on the way home...but I'm not saying another word!!), had a great dinner, then stayed up WAY too late playing dominoes and telling stories. (Is it sad that midnight is now considered WAY too late?)
Thanks for coming to spend the night, Sullivans, it was SO great to see you. And thank you for making it work. (Allison tried to downplay it, but I'm pretty sure they rearranged their whole Texas itinerary just to see us that weekend--it was appreciated!!!)
