San Antonio Recap

A few weeks ago, Delilah and I went to San Antonio for a day trip to visit Cannon & Amy. Their friends, Kevin & Amy, were also visiting so Delilah got to play with their cutie-pie son, Josh, who is about 10 months older.
Then, a week ago, my brother Cannon graduated from his anesthesiology residency program, so we headed down to San Antonio again, along with a bunch of other friends and family. We had a great time hanging out by the pool during the day, and then got dressed up for the graduation ceremony on Saturday night.
Below are some pics from the fun weekends. It seems I have grown weary of taking pictures, so all these are from the two Amy's. Thanks, girls!

Here's Josh (isn't he adorable!), sweetly sharing his Cheerios with Delilah

Not so sweetly sharing
No longer sharing at all. And Delilah is mad.
Here's me holding a camera-shy Delilah, with Cassidi (remember beautiful Cassidi from the Vegas wedding?)
Cannon and some of his doctor friends have formed a band. They're actually pretty good and they treated us to a mini-concert out of Cannon's garage. Here's Cannon on the keys, singing.
And here's Cannon taking lead vocals. I believe they're covering 'Blister in the Sun' in this picture. If you look closely, you can see Chris in the background, filling in for their drummer.
Mimi and Pop Pop at the graduation.
And Cannon and Amy at the graduation. She's due ANY DAY now!
Next time we're in San Antonio, it will be to see my new nephew!!

My Back Hurts

Delilah is now a big girl, so she no longer tolerates being held until she falls asleep. She must be placed in her crib awake b/c if you try and hold her, she just wiggles out of your arms. And forget having her sleep with you...she has never, not one night, slept with me and Chris. It's actually how I wanted it (I've heard it's a hard habit to break), but there have been a few sleepless nights where that crutch would have come in handy.
But tonight, for some reason, Delilah would not fall asleep. So we swayed in her rocking chair while I sang lullabies that I haven't sung for months and she fell fast asleep. I looked at her and my eyes welled with tears b/c she looked just like she did when she was a newborn. I finally stood up, with her asleep, and walked to her crib, ready to lay her down. Only I couldn't. I couldn't put her down b/c I don't know when she'll fall asleep in my arms again. So I held her and watched her breathing for as long as I physically could.
So now my back hurts.
And I am so happy.

One of my Heroes

One of my very oldest and dearest friends, Cameron, just got back from her second tour of duty in Iraq. She is a bad-ass Navy pilot (Top Gun, anyone?) and I am so in awe of who she is and what she does for our country. We got to spend a couple days together upon her return and had a blast catching up. Chris took Delilah for a night while I busted out of town with Cameron in her new Porsche Boxster convertible. No pics of how cool we looked in the car, but here are a few pics of my dear friend. Thank you for your service, Cameron...I am so happy you are home safe and sound.

I love Vegbee!!!

Vegbee is the profile name of the sweet, wonderful woman who runs a blog that helps novice sewers like me. She is continually posting new tutorials for adorable clothes that she has designed herself. Over the holidays I made her infant hat and below is my version of her apron top. I think it came out pretty well (and the adorable model doesn't hurt things at all). Thank you, Vegbee, for being so generous with your creativity!!!

Corset Back
Happy girl
(Quick update since originally posting this: We went to Borders after I took these photos and I had 3 people ask me where I bought her top. Which makes me happy b/c my whole life I've wanted to be creative and crafty and have NEVER been good at anything of the sort. I guess I just needed the right red-head for inspiration.)

Quick Update

I think this is the longest I've gone without blogging since I started the thing...it's definitely the longest since Delilah was born. Not sure why I took a hiatus, but I thought I'd at least hop on for a second and do a quick post.
Hadn't taken a picture of Delilah sleeping in awhile, so here she is napping. Despite being a big girl now, she still likes to be wrapped in her blanket before she goes down. You can see she likes snuggling her mini-Runyon. (You might also see the scratch on her cheek; sometimes walking is hard...that file cabinet came out of nowhere).

And here are her 3 favorite books. She wants us to read them to her over and over. and over. and over. If she's not ready to stop, she throws the book at our heads. I have read Stella the Star literally 20 times in a row before. Well, I read it through 3 times in a row, then I started giving her a synopsis of each page, then I started saying one word on each page, then I just stayed quiet as she flipped the pages. But we did go through it 20 times.
And here is her favorite toy. You push a button and all the gears turn. The gears also come off and stack up. She is her father's daughter.
And here are a couple pics of Runyon...getting so big. I'll try to get some pics soon of Delilah and Runyon playing together--it's so cute!
